setnight - creating a parameter file for rctnight

Usage:

setnight

setnight rctnight_parfile

Setnight is a Perl script which creates or edits the parameters file which is used as input to rctnight. Using this script to create the parameters file may help to identify and avoid certain problems when using rctnight.

If setnight is invoked without any argument, it can be used to create a new parameters file. Default parameter values will be used until changed by the user. The script lists the current parameter values and allows the user to edit them or write them out to a file. A few simple checks on the parameter values' validity can also be made; warnings are issued for parameters which might cause a problem when running rctnight. Finally, if the user inputs relative pathnames to files or directories for parameters requiring full pathnames, the user can choose to expand the relative pathnames to full pathnames (if the file or directory exists).

If setnight is invoked with a command line argument, it is assumed to be a pre-existing parameters file. Setnight may be used to edit this parameters file or use it as a template to create other parameter files.
