A database is the main method of keeping track of requests to the telescope, noting its capabilities and logging what it has done. The data base is MySQL version 5.0. This is a powerful opensource database with many users.

The database is a bit minimalistic and doesn't have all the features that one can think of, but is a starting point to be added to in the future as these features are requested.
